I didn't think we could get more desperate. A couple of weeks after the surgery, the scar wasn't healing well, and it was rapidly becoming apparent that it was because there were tumors growing in the area where the healing should have been taking place. Obviously, the surgery hadn't been successful, and the chemo had barely stalled the cancer.
Our law suit was about to be filed, and our attorney had been planning to file it as a life or death matter, hoping that we could get to trial in 6 or 8 weeks. However, we couldn't use that approach since we had the money to start the treatment. I felt confident we would win. I was glad we had the transplant scheduled, and that we had the financial problems out of the way.
